Itinerary

Day 1 : Welcome to Luang Prabang

Sabaidi and welcome to Luang Prabang, the most beautiful town in Laos, famous for its blend of local and colonial culture and architecture.

Upon arrival to Luang Prabang Airport, our representative will transfer you to the charming hotel boutique accommodation. Appreciate the charm of this colonial-styled villa and spend the afternoon by the pool, or perhaps wander around the old streets of the small town to see Wat Xieng Thong, a black and red temple with lavish gold stenciling dating back to the 16th century, special for being one of the only temples that was not ransacked by Chinese mercenaries in the late 1800s.

Meals: No meals

Accomodation: Mekong Riverview Hotel

Day 2 : Play with rescued elephants in Mandalao Elephant Conservation

Learn why Laos is called the land of a million elephants with a trip to the Mandalao Elephant Conservation just outside of Luang Prabang. Throughout the day, get up and close with the elephants as you feed, bathe, and play with them after a short training course from a Mahout.

Return to Luang Prabang by in the afternoon and have the evening at leisure. Perhaps check out the daily night market where you can peruse all the local handicrafts on display.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Accomodation: Mekong Riverview Hotel

Day 3 : Swim in the Kuang Si Waterfalls and stop at Lao Whisky Village

Drive 1-hour south through the dense forest to visit the magical Kuang Si Waterfalls. Swim in the glowing waters and take some time to visit the Kuang Si Bear Rescue Center.

After a picnic lunch, return to Luang Prabang and board a slow boat to lazily journey up the river to Pak Ou Caves, stopping along the way to visit the Lao Whisky Village to see the process of how villagers make the potent Lau Lao, a special type of whiskey made from rice. Continue on to Pak Ou where a thousand Buddha images are kept. After visiting the cave, return downstream to Luang Prabang as the sun begins to set.

Meals: Breakfast

Accomodation: Mekong Riverview Hotel

Day 4 : Offer alms to monks in dusky saffron robes at Ban Vat Sean

Rise before the sun and take part in the iconic tradition of Luang Prabang, offering alms to a long line of monks in dusky saffron robes at Ban Vat Sean. The tradition of giving alms stems back to ancient times, with the idea to give without expecting anything in return.

Return to your hotel for breakfast before departing on a scenic drive to Vang Vieng. Along the way there are many opportunities to take photos and experience authentic encounter as we stop at markets and minority villages barely visited by international guests.

Arrive in the afternoon to the picturesque town of Vang Vieng. The rest of the afternoon and evening is free for your leisure to discover this quaint town and surrounding countryside independently.

Meals: Breakfast

Accomodation: Silver Naga Hotel

Day 5 : Join interesting outdoor activities in Vang Vieng

Breathe in the fresh air as you gently cycle through rice paddies and around karst limestone formations that seem to just spring from the Earth in every direction. Visit the ethnic Khmu village and learn about the daily life of one of the many ethnic groups that exist here in Laos.

Enjoy a delicious, homemade lunch before stepping into your kayak and slowly paddling down the tranquil Nam Song River with its glorious rugged scenery. There is also a possibility to visit Tham None Cave, the biggest cave in Vang Vieng and historically important as it was used as a rescue shelter for villagers during the American-Vietnam War.

Return to Vang Vieng and enjoy the rest of your afternoon free for your leisure.

Meals: Breakfast

Accomodation: Silver Naga Hotel

Day 6 : Visit Vientiane’s most important temples in an afternoon tour

Say good-bye to Vang Vieng and travel south to the capital of Laos, Vientiane. Surprisingly, this capital city is free of skyscrapers, traffic jams, and street vendors, making it seem more like a big village than a center for government.

Spend the afternoon visiting the city’s most important temples, such as Vat Visaket with its thousands of small Buddhas, Haw Phra Kaew, the home of the emerald Buddha before it was stolen by the Thai, and the historic Wat Pha That Luang, glimmering in gold over 44 m high.

The tour will finish at Patuxai, an arch resembling the French Arc de Triomphe but decorated with a classic Lao twist. The evening is free for you to explore the wide, tree-lined boulevards on your own.

Meals: Breakfast

Accomodation: Green Park Boutique Hotel

Day 7 : Time to say good-bye

Enjoy a lazy morning with a delicious breakfast and then transfer to the airport for your onward travel arrangements.
