Learn about the recent dark history of Cambodia by visiting the infamous sites left from Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge, the Killing Fields of Chuong Ek. Just one of the 20,000 mass grave sites found within the country, Chuong Ek is now a Buddhist memorial to the many lives that were lost between 1975 and 1979. It is also a monument to the many who survived the atrocities committed and an educational tool to ensure history does not repeat itself.

After your visit finishes, journey back to Phnom Penh and stop at Tuol Sleng Prison, a former school-turned torture center and only 1 of the 150 execution centers used by the Khmer Rouge regime.

Take some time to decompress from what you have learned by walking along the Sisowath Quay Riverwalk, enjoying the wide boulevards flanked by leafy palm trees on either side until reaching the Royal Palace, gleaming in all of its golden glory. About this tour

  • This is a fairly fast paced itinerary, covering major highlights of Myanmar and Cambodia in just under 2 weeks. Be sure to book extra time in Yangon or Siem Reap if you want more time to explore these cities
  • An airport arrival and departure transfer is included. Please provide your flight details at the time of booking, or at a minimum of 15 days prior to travel
  • This package requires a visa to Myanmar and Cambodia
  • The tour guide in Myanmar will not be the same as in Cambodia
  • This trip involves many cultural experiences which take place often barefoot. You’ll be visiting many religious sites where you must remove all footwear before entering
  • Cambodia and Myanmar are both conservative countries so take care to pack loose, lightweight, long clothing which covers your shoulders and knees to be respectful to the culture and especially in religious areas
  • The stories and history shared at the Killing Fields and Genocide Museum are confronting and many travellers will find them upsetting. This is an important part of Cambodia's recent history that we feel is important for travellers to know. If you would prefer not to join these activities your leader can recommend some optional alternatives
  • Consider adding an island extension to Sihanoukville or Koh Rong on day 13 to relax on some of Cambodia’s best-kept secret beaches
